Hey friends! I released a new video a little bit ago [Click Here] where we dive into coloring a wild rose complete with shading tips, ancient symbolism, and a bit of thorny sass. Proceed with WILD ABANDON!
The Power of the Wild Rose: Not a Florist’s Fantasy
Roses are incredibly rich with meaning, but in this session, we are honoring the ancient, rugged, unapologetic wild rose that lives in all of us. This flower symbolizes vitality and survival —a hardy, disease-resistant survivor that creates healthy ecosystems.
In the video, I color one of my own botanical line drawings while reflecting on this flower’s fierce and ancient power.

Coloring with Intention: Thorns and All
I share a few coloring tricks (hello, glitter gel pens!) like stippling with red to create a lightening of the hue, and using blue sparingly to prevent overpowering the delicate petals. But the deeper intention is what matters most.
This piece is an invitation to feel the freedom of being fully complex, fully human, and accepting it. We are not celebrating the curated modern rose; we are celebrating the part of you that holds thorns.
Want to color along? You can download the free coloring page from the video description [Click Here] and join me in conjuring up some botanical magic.
And if you’re looking to sip with that spirit, I’ve also turned this same wild rose illustration into glass sippers [Click Here]. They are a powerful reminder that we make our own meaning and should embrace that beautiful, Loving, Protective Wild spirit that you hold.
