A season of healing

Throughout my life, I've navigated a series of subtle and sometimes jarring changes. Like many of us, those events have stuck with me, forging the human I am today. I'm genuinely grateful for who I am, for the experiences I've had, and for the profound lessons I've learned, and continue to learn, as I embrace the wisdom and grace of aging.
But when you're caught in the middle of a storm or feel like you're falling apart, the experience can feel frantic. You struggle to know how to manage and disperse those strong, overwhelming emotions.
Because I am such an internal processor, I have consistently found creative expression to be a powerful, effective way to express and transform my pain. I've often joked with my good friends and counselors, "You'll know how bad it is if I've journaled about it, painted it, and written a song." These methods are not just hobbies; they are vital tools for healing.
I recognize that not everyone has easy access to these specific modes. For some, drawing can be as anxiety producing as advanced math. However, creativity comes in many forms. The very act of working through the things you cannot change, the struggles you need to process, is a creative process in itself.
This painting, which was born from a deep, personal need for rest and self care, and reflects my affinity for the restorative power of water and forest. I offer it to you as your permission slip.
Whatever your challenges may be, bring your own special creative magic to rise up to them. Whether that magic manifests through profound rest or energized creation, give yourself the non negotiable permission to heal. Transform those hard days into quiet triumphs, proud moments where you stood up for yourself and honored your deepest needs.
